Civil/Structural Engineer (freelance)

Company operating in the engineering and manufacturing sector, thanks to its know-how and its technology, is leading in the lifting platform and transformation industry, both nationally and internationally.

 As part of a talented team of engineers and designers, you will play a crucial role in carrying out varied and stimulating technical tasks. Your mission will consist of taking charge of lifting platform projects throughout their entire production cycle, including technical design, internal coordination, support for draftsmen-designers, manufacturing, and installation.

You will be responsible for the design of steel structures and machine elements for lifting platforms. You will also provide support for calculation and design methods. You will have the opportunity to work on projects of larger scale and increasing complexity. As a Civil/Structural Engineer, you will be an essential technical reference for your fellow mechanical engineers, sales, estimating, manufacturing, and procurement teams.

 

Main functions

  • Perform project-related calculations, such as steel structure and mechanical elements using tools such as RISA, MathCad and Excel.
  • Prepare and review technical reports and drawings.
  • Monitor project progress and take necessary actions to meet deadlines and deliverables.
  • Provide support to the drafting team in the development of manufacturing drawings.
  • Coordinate design activities with other disciplines.
  • Approve layout and production drawings.
  • Select Spiralift model the most suitable for each project.
  • Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions.

Project Manager

The Project Manager will coordinate the execution of mechanical, civil, electrical, and construction engineering projects (in collaboration with the sales, engineering, procurement, planning, production, and accounting teams).

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Act as the point of contact with the client and their partners (architects, consultants, and engineers) and ensure a clear understanding of the technical parameters, our equipment, and the requirements for its integration into the buildings (mechanical, civil, and electrical);

• Review contracts and technical specifications to ensure our equipment meets project requirements;

• Ensure effective communication between the various stakeholders involved and all aspects of the projects (drafting correspondence and managing communication between Gala, clients, subcontractors on site, etc.) and communicate objectives to internal collaborators (performance, budget, timelines, etc.)

• Prepare timelines, budgets, and cash flow projections for assigned projects, and monitor their adherence.

• Manage the administrative aspects of projects and ensure their inclusion in contracts.

• Ensure the application of contractual clauses and coordinate their impact and integration into project execution.

• Document project progress and any changes or additions that may occur during the contract’s execution (negotiate and manage contract changes).

• Ensure the resolution of any problems that may arise during design, procurement, production, or on-site installation, and compliance with all local standards, including those related to health and safety.

• Participate in the project estimation process (engineering hours, production and installation costs) by Collaboration with the estimating and sales team;

• Hiring subcontractors and arranging equipment rentals (specialized or non-specialized), including required insurance;

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or relevant experience in one of these fields;

Under the supervision of the Quality Manager, the Quality Inspector will be responsible for inspecting and controlling materials and for managing non-conforming products. From time to time, the employee will participate in the problem analysis and resolution process. Other related duties and responsibilities may also be assigned to this position.


Detailed Responsibilities

  • Inspect the dimensions of received materials using standard and specialized measuring instruments according to drawings or internal instructions;
  • Inspect sub-assemblies and finished products;
  • Analyze obtained data to determine compliance;

  • Transfer inspected parts and raw materials to designated areas (using a forklift);

Machine Operator / Machining Technician

Under the Production Manager, the Machine Operator is responsible for operating manufacturing machines used to produce belts for Spiralift products. The role also includes manual grinding operations for product finishing.

The company is currently making major investments to modernize its machinery fleet, including belt manufacturing machines. The equipment consists mainly of conventional rolling/bending machines, along with some semi-automatic machines. Depending on the candidate’s skills, they may also occasionally work on CNC equipment and a numerical lathe.

 

Responsibilities: Spiralift Belt Manufacturing

  • Set up and operate semi-automatic equipment used to transform steel coils into belts for Spiralift products;
  • Adjust machine parameters to ensure finished products meet required tolerances;
  • Prepare belt ends for various products (drilling, grinding, punching);
  • Perform quality control of finished products.

    Groupe Paco is a Quebec-based company located in St-Hubert, on the South Shore of Montreal, specializing in the manufacturing of lifting equipment.

    We are currently seeking a Transportation Logistics Assistant for a 4‑month contract (from May 4 to August 30, 2026), with the possibility of extension if there is mutual interest.


    Main Responsibilities

    • Receive transportation requests from the Transportation Coordinator;
    • Make bookings with freight forwarders and carriers (maritime, air, ground) for shipments to the United States, Europe, and Asia;
    • Maintain transportation files and enter data into the operational system;
    • Prepare shipping documentation (CERS, commercial invoices, pickup requests, etc.) and ensure compliance with customs regulations at both origin and destination;
    • Distribute documentation to project managers, freight forwarders, and other internal departments;
